The joke that many people quote is '
we wanted a conservatory
but we got a greenhouse
..'! It just about sums up how hot and bright conservatories
can get.
However, being serious, it is vital that you take
a good look at what you need before you get any quotes
Point
1. Is it glare or heat that is the problem. We often say give it a summer to experience
how pleasant (or otherwise) it is? If heat is a major issue you may need special
fabric to absorb and reflect this. If not, great you have just saved some money
.
Point
2. Get several quotes. I have often visited conservatory owners who have been
quoted more for the blinds than the whole conservatory cost to build! I'm not
joking either, Cosine regularly give prices less than half the cost of the 'high
profile, Sunday Time Magazine' companies.
Point 3. Perfect
Fit or standard. Look at the Gallery here and you will see there are blinds which
do not have gaps (no light can get in between the edge of the blind and the roof
frame. These blinds actually clip in to the frame and are called Perfect fit.
The other blinds you see are standard pleated and are screwed in top and bottom.
Typically
conservatory blinds come as Pleated on the roof and a choice of virtually all
other types on the windows. You'll be amazed at how many colours and fabrics are
available. Not forgetting, of course, your requirements for keeping the heat out
in summer and the heat in during winter. Just ask our advice.
Please
note that when using pleated blinds on normal windows some manufacturers recommend
drawing them at least once a month to stop the pleats falling out (which looks
horrible)! Not with ours though as we have a special cord fitted to each blind
to maintain the shape, hence we can offer a Five Year Guarantee with confidence.
By
the way we can supply Clip In blinds in Venetians, Rollers or Pleated, these do
not need to be screwed to the conservatory. In fact, if you like, you can even
unclip them for cleaning.
